LAKE MONTEZUMA PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION

MONTHLY PUBLIC AND BOARD MEETING

DATE OF MEETING 6-02-2008

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 5:02 pm

BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Sharon Brooks, Janet Aniol, Steve Sprinz, Carole Penfield-Krowne and Lisa Taylor.

OTHER RESIDENTS PRESENT: 34

I. GUEST SPEAKER. Dallas Hammitt, ADOT engineer, gave a presentation on the upcoming improvements to the McGuireville interchange on I-17. He presented maps, showing the location of the improvements which will include lengthening all on and off-ramps, widening the bridge over the dry Beaver Creek and resurfacing. He stated that there will be some lane restrictions during the construction, but that access will always be available to get on or off I-17 during the construction. Each ramp will be approximately ¼ mile long when completed. They will use rubberized pavement because it lasts longer. The historic site in the Dry Beaver Creek will not be disturbed.

Mr. Hammitt answered questions from the audience. On June 20th, bids will go out on the southbound I-17 from McGuireville to Camp Verde.

II. GUEST SPEAKER. The second guest speaker was Richard Butler from the Sedona/Verde Valley Association of Realtors. He explained about the "Knox Box" which can be installed on the side of the home and holds a house key. If the resident dials 911, the computer will provide information about the Knox Box and will enable emergency responders to have access. The program is free to qualifying seniors and disabled persons and available for a one-time charge for others. Interested persons should call Ann Ziller at 282-5409.

III. MINUTES: The minutes of May 5, 2008 were read and approved.

IV. FINANCIAL REPORT. The financial report was handed out to the board. (See attached). Chris Beisecker was not at the meeting.

V.WEBSITE. The website is currently down.

VI. COMMITTEE REPORTS.

A. BEAVER CREEK REGIONAL COUNCIL/ COMMUNITY PLAN. Last week, a focus group was convened to test the draft survey and provide feedback. After it is revised it will go to the County for approval.

B. PLANNING AND ZONING Steve Sprinz reported on several proposed zoning ordinance amendments, including a draft residential conservation subdivision, H8063 re Guest Homes to have their own utilities, and commercial vehicle storage on residential property. There is also a completed emergency ordinance prohibiting campfires. Sharon and Steve have agreed to be the P&Z committee for LMPOA.

C. TRANSPORTATION. The Board directed that a letter be drafted to NAIPTA. A motion was passed authorizing Sharon to fine tune the letter and send it.

Janet reported that Red Rocks Development has already sent the check to LMPOA for the traffic study.

D. WATER/FLOODING. Karen Krippene sent her written report stating that she attended the May 7th BCRC meeting and heard a comprehensive report regarding the SRP lawsuit involving Verde Valley water rights. She is studying the situation and plans to have more concrete information for the July LMPOA meeting.

E. PARK COMMITTEE. The fountain is now running.

F.. MEMBERSHIP. Lisa Taylor is drafting letters to local businesses regarding business memberships in LMPOA.

G.. PUBLICITY. Carole Penfield-Krowne reported that the Bugle continues to carry regular announcements about LMPOA meetings in its prominent "Getting Involved" column. The Bugle has also published two press releases in May—one about our new board members and one announcing the guest speaker Dallas Hammitt. Yolanda Sprinz designed a "reminder" flyer which was posted in the LM Post Office, adult center, and various businesses in the area.

A marketing survey was handed out to all attendee to measure the effectiveness of various forms of notice for LMPOA meetings. The results will be tabulated and presented at the next meeting.

VI OLD BUSINESS. Sharon read a thank you note from the Beaver Creek School for the printer that LMPOA donated.

The wording on the commemorative stone for Everett Lodge will state "Eddie Lodge, Community Benefactor" A motion was passed by the Board to move ahead with ordering the stone and to invite his long-time friend to attend a ceremony.

VII NEW BUSINESS.

Southwest Expeditions: provides buses to take local children to the Camp Verde pool during the summer. They asked LMPOA for a donation to help defray the costs. The Board passed a motion to send a check for $200.00.

There is a free drop-off for yard clippings (branches, grass, etc.) at the Camp Verde transfer station until September 1st. They will not accept recycled items or garbage.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
